With solar power to keep things green, a luxurious cabin so, and a Ford F-550 Super Duty truck underneath, the EarthRoamer LTi is very cool.
Apart from the havoc Covid-19 wreaked on the world, it brought in a lot of lifestyle changes in our lives. A boon, as some would say, was the work-from-home culture that was globally adopted by almost every company. Not only did this give a regular employee a chance to work from home, but also to indulge in a lot of hobbies that the corporate routine inhibited. And in two years' time, as a subsequent result of the same, cross-country traveling was one of the things that picked up great momentum.
In a recent episode of Jay Leno’s garage, the seasoned enthusiast who is known to have some of the rarest cars in his garage, takes a closer look at a traveler truck. Needless to say, he was mighty impressed. The vehicle was the EarthRoamer LTi, a Ford F-550 Super Duty truck’s derivative that seemed to have left Leno thinking. Yes, it might not be the $2 million Karlmann King that’s also based on the Ford F-550, the future of pickup trucks from Ford like the F-150 Lightning, or a classic muscle car like the 1969 Shelby GT500 Ford Mustang, but it is truly in a league of its own.
In the video that lasts over 40 minutes, Leno took the car through several conditions, only to come out delighted. Here’s everything you need to know about the EarthRoamer LTi.

The EarthRoamer LTi gets a carbon fiber camper body which the manufacturer claims, is the strongest and most capable in the world. EarthRoamer achieved this by using a Vacuum Infusion Process (VIP) where a structural foam core is sandwiched between two carbon fiber skins to create the monocoque LTi’s exterior.
The camper’s body retains its one-piece molded design and ensures that no seams have any scope of a leak or structural failure. Also, this creates a stronger, safer, and more reliable living space.
Aesthetic-wise, the car has some pretty notable elements which double up as functional. For instance, the truck scores perfectly in terms of thermal insulation as one-piece bodies require no metal support structure which could lead to reduced insulation. Better insulation reduces heating and cooling energy requirements, which makes solar and battery power perfect energy sources.
The EarthRoamer LTi is designed from scratch to be the ultimate adventure vehicle. Each model is based on a 4WD Ford F-550 chassis powered by an efficient and powerful 6.7-liter turbo diesel V8 engine. The manufacturer has chosen Ford’s premium Lariat interior trim to offer added comfort and luxury. The wheels, tires, and suspension are aimed at maximizing ground clearance, approach, departure, and break-over angles. Every LTi drives on 41-inch military tires on bead lock wheels to conquer all types of terrain. The car is fitted with air ride suspension, King off-road shocks, and heavy-duty anti-sway bars, all specifically engineered for EarthRoamer.
Midnight travel and forest camping are not an issue either as the LTi comes with a super bright LED off-road lighting package that includes a 40-inch curved light bar integrated into their in-house designed front bumper, driving lights and fog lights. The high-mounted rear brake lights are visible when you are pulling a trailer providing an additional level of safety if your trailer lights fail. In case of a tricky mucky situation, that vehicle also has heavy-duty Warn front and rear winches. And EarthRoamer claims that its winches can handle over 16,000 lbs with synthetic rope for safety and remote control for self-recovery.

The car comes with a living room, kitchen, and bathroom, all crafted to a high level of quality. As you can see from the pictures, the cabin gets enough storage space, a bed that comes with memory foam, a TV, and generous space. In terms of the kitchen equipment, the vehicle gets modern appliances like a stainless refrigerator/freezer, induction cooktop, and convection microwave are standard offerings.
Meanwhile, the bathrooms are heated and have generous stand-up heights, and contain a cassette toilet, toilet paper holder, hot/cold shower, compact sink, mirror, exhaust fan, clothes drying line, and a soap/shampoo dispenser with storage for small bath items. The fiberglass is gel-coated and features easy-to-clean surfaces with gap-less seam construction that prevents mold and mildew build-up. For long trips, the LTi gets a massive 374 gallon fresh water supply that will last from several days up to over two weeks based on usage. EarthRoamer claims that the car’s plumbing systems are designed to even function in below-freezing temperatures. In addition to a built-in air pressure system, they are designed to be quickly and easily winterized when not being used.
If one plans to own it, make sure there is at least $590,000 tucked below your mattress, with a well-equipped one setting you back as much as $700,000. If that's not the price of luxury camping, we dont know what is.
